The day was very relaxed and laid back, Chris + Carolyn seemed to have everything totally under control. They had requested from me a very natural, organic approach to photographing their Wedding. Nothing staged except a few family portraits and some candid photos with their Wedding party. Carolyn didn’t want any preparation photos and they didn’t want to take time away from their guests with a lengthy portrait shoot, so my job was to just go about documenting all the moments through out the day.

As always, I had my beautiful assistant (also my wife) Ang with me. We had a great time hanging with Chris, Carolyn and their Wedding party. They were all so natural and genuinely happy throughout the day. Carolyn looked absolutely stunning, one of the prettiest brides we have photographed and Chris did a pretty good job supporting

Here are a few photographs from the bridal preparations from Justin + Sarah’s Wedding. J + S aren’t real summer people so they decided to have their Wedding in December. It was a lot of fun hanging out with Sarah, Justin, their family and friends. Our day started with photos of Sarah’s preparations – She had all her girls around to help her out as well as her mum(mom) The curlers and flattening irons where humming away and the champagne was flowing – the perfect start to a perfect day!

Jill had all her girls on hand while getting prepared for the Wedding. The air in the Bryant Park hotel room was full of fun and excitement and we all laughed our way through the hair and make up photo session (with a little help from a bottle of Moet )

Both Stan + Jill were getting prepared in the Bryant Park Hotel, so I was able to spend time photographing both of them while they were getting ready. The atmosphere in Stan’s room wasn’t much different to that of Jill’s – A couple of close friends some family, beers and a great vide!

Both the ceremony and reception took place at Bryant Park Grill in Bryant Park, Manhattan. A really wonderful venue for a Wedding! Stan + Jill didn’t want to take time away from their guests once the Celebrations got underway. So we decided to do our Portrait Photography session before the ceremony (something more and more brides and grooms are electing to do). We had a great time tromping around Bryant Park getting some really fun photos.

After the ceremony, which took place on the roof of the Bryant Park Grill everybody made their way down stairs for some great food, good drinks and a raging party. Stan and Jill certainly have some party going friends and the music and dancing continued long into the night – that’s my kinda wedding!

I had so much fun hanging out and photographing Simon + Amy’s Wedding day! They are a really great, down to earth couple – a characteristic guaranteed to produce fun and beautiful photographs, which we managed to capture plenty of. Our day started off early in lower Manhattan, around the south street seaport where both S + A were getting prepared. I love photographing in this area and this time of morning was perfect as the wide, cobblestone-street were still quiet. The cobblestone streets help me to imagine what Manhattan was like all those years ago.

I had a great portrait session with the guys while the girls performed their finishing touches. We had a bit of a laugh and a strut down the alleyways. Once the girls were all ready we spent some time on the waters edge taking bridal party photos and family portraits with the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge before jumping on the water taxi over to DUMBO.

The ceremony at Five Front restaurant was great! It was an honest, heartfelt ceremony in the lovely outdoor section with beautiful trees and a big old, rustic brick wall as our backdrop. The reception was inside at Five Front restaurant, so Simon, Amy and I had some time to slip out and take some portraits through out DUMBO while the catering staff got everything prepared. Again, Simon + Amy’s fun, easy going approach to things made the session so much fun and my photojournalistic style really captured the love and joy that Simon + Amy have for each other!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a New York Wedding without some NYC subway photography. So, to wrap up the day the Bridal party and I jumped on the A line back to the South Street Seaport for a fun little photo shoot. It was a great way to end the day – laughter and smiles all around.

Wow, the winter is finally over and the weather is warming up! Which means it’s time for Wedding Photography season to kick off. Before I get started, I have an admission I would like to make – My blogging skills still aren’t really up to scratch, and although I had those couple of months tucked away inside I never got around to posting images from all my weddings of last season, woops! I did get a little distracted running around in the snow with my camera, and one day soon I’ll post those photos too. But it’s a new year and a new season and in the next few weeks I will get all my Wedding Photography from last season up and on the blog. So once again I am a little out of order, but seeing as I photographed this Wedding a few weekends ago I thought I’d post a few photos then get back to the oldies

Mike and Jen were referred to me by Stan + Jill, a really awesome couple. I had the pleasure of being their Wedding photographer last year (photo’s are still to be posted, sorry). Given the great time my wife Ang and I had at S + J’s Wedding we were really looking forward to photographing Mike + Jen’s. We had the opportunity to get out of New York City for the day and cross the Hudson into New Jersey. The Ceremony was held at Our lady of Fatima Church in Highland Lakes. The Reception was at Peron Farms in Andover, New Jersey. It was a great Wedding that acknowledged the love of family, both present and those that have past and all their close friends. Everybody had a great day and night and the Newly Weds looked dashing.

I had a great time as Brian + Jenny’s Wedding photographer. They are a really great couple. Fun, easy going and also very open and honest, a no-BS kinda couple! We scored a perfectly warm and sunny September afternoon for the Ceremony, which was hosted by the Brooklyn Society of Ethical Culture on Prospect Park West in Park Slope. I’ve walked and ridden past the grounds of the BSEC many times but never really stopped to go in or even peer through the fence – It’s a beautiful building and the garden is stunning.

With beverages in hand B + J’s guests mingled through out the garden before the Ceremony. The whole day had a great relaxed, fun and stress free feel, which really does make for a fantastic day.

At times the gathering of Brian and Jenny’s friends felt more like a huge new parents meeting and I started to wonder if their invitation demanded that guests bring a small child for every two or three people in attendance J But it made for some cute photographs, great fun and entertainment with all the lively little ones running around.

After the Ceremony food was served up, and I’ve gotta say it was some of the most amazing BBQ I’ve had in my life! After all the food and dancing we all walked along Prospect Park West to an awesome penthouse Apartment on Eastern Parkway. Once we arrived to the balcony patio we were treated to sweeping views from the Verrazano Bridge and Manhattan to Queens just as the sun set! The view was breath taking!!

September 5th

Ange and I were off again, this time upstate to photograph Sena + Jeff’s Wedding at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White plains NY. I’d been looking forward to being their photographer for a while. We had a really great time on our engagement shoot a few months before hand. Sena and Jeff are a fantastic couple – honest, natural and easy going.

Sena’s roots are Korean and Jeff’s, Jewish. Both their cultures and traditions would be honoured, first in a Jewish Wedding Ceremony and then later during the reception with the Korean Paebek.

S + J didn’t want to take too much time away from the evening and their guests so we had decided to do all our portraits pre ceremony. There is a lovely nature trail that runs from the hotel so we utilized that for our portrait session. Sena was looking so beautiful, she opted for something a little different, and went with a red dress, which was stunning! Jeff was looking mighty handsome too.

We scored some pretty amazing weather for the day. The Ceremony took place in the afternoon. The site looked great with the beautiful, warm afternoon sun beaming through the trees that surrounded us.

After the bread was blessed and the wine glass smashed it was time to celebrate! That included the performance of the Paebek, a traditional Korean Ceremony. The bride and groom wear Hanboks, traditional Korean wear and pay respect to their parents. It’s a great (and entertaining) ceremony, which they modified slightly to personalize and was a fitting final touch on S + J’s day. The Hanboks are quite elaborate, with a few layers that almost guarantee a little bit of sweating. Sena + Jeff performed a series of bows to their parent, as well as serving them tea. The parents then throw chestnuts and dates to be caught, this predicts the number of children they will have together, chestnuts for boys, dates for girls. At the end of the ceremony Jeff carried Sena around on his back as proof that he is able and willing to support Sena through out their marriage. By the end of the ceremony everybody was having a great laugh

The time came to sit down and eat, drink, catch up and finally dance. It was a terrific day and night, I had a blast as their photographer and we got some really great photographs. I hope you enjoy…

I love it when I’m the photographer for the wedding of cool people! It’s really such a joy spending the day hanging out with great people, meeting their close friends and family. Sam and Brian are really awesome. I knew from our first meeting that we would have an absolute ball on their wedding day. They are both such friendly, laid back and genuine souls.

September 12^th started pretty early for me. Sam and Brian spent the night before in the same hotel so I was able to get photos of both of them preparing for the day. I stopped by the boys room first for some bagels n cream cheese and a few photographs of them all getting ready, then hopped a few doors down to see Sam. I was so impressed with how well Sam was coping, she was just about as relaxed as I was nothing could ruffle her feathers, not even her father mixing up their contact lenses.

The Hotel was right on 42^nd street, Manhattan. The theory was we with a photographer and six beautiful girls, one carrying a wedding dress, could hail a cab quickly and easily right out front, but that wasn’t quite the case… We finally got our cab and headed to The Blessed Sacrament Church on 71^st St. It’s a beautiful catholic church with wonderful statues and stunning stained glass windows.

Sam’s father had organised a bus tour for their guests after the Ceremony to get them all from the church to the reception venue at Olive Restaurant. It was a great idea that allowed those guests from out of town to see parts of the city they hadn’t seen before and for those that had they got to see it from a different view.

The reception at Olive Restaurant was great, lots of really good food, wine and company. There were a few really moving speeches from both fathers and Brian’s Granny pulled out some props from his past to tell a moving story.

August 21st

It was off to Simsbury Connecticut to photograph my first out of New York Destination Wedding. I brought along my beautiful wife Ange, for company on the 3 1/2 hour drive, to help navigate using Google maps shoddy directions and to be my second photographer.

Kelly + Chad chose the fantastic Riverview as their all in one venue for the Wedding. It has a couple of different out door locations for the ceremony, both of which look over a small tree lined river (hence the name).

The day started off sunny, hot, humid and sticky. We took shelter in the air conditioned bridal suite where Kelly enlisted her brides maids to help her put the finishing touches to her ensemble – besides the obvious wedding dress, shoes, jewellery etc think extra heavy duty antiperspirant deodorant (check out the photos)

While Kelly and her girls were getting ready Chad and the boys took charge of keeping an eye on the sky – there had been reports that a thunderstorm could blow our way. As time went on, the clouds began looking more ominous until about 45 minutes before the ceremony when torrential rain, thunder and lightning descended upon us

The crew at The Riverview worked at super human speed to transport everything from the outdoor ceremony site to the in door venue they use for wedding ceremonies. After a very short delay the site was up, the guests were ready and Chad waited eagerly at the alter for Kelly.

The ceremony was performed by an old family friend of Kelly’s. It was typical of both Kelly and Chad sweet, funny and filled with love.

Ange and I had a great time and we got some great photographs at Kelly + Chad’s. However, after all the celebrations we still had a three hour drive home to Brooklyn in the thunderstorm!
